Work begins on sewer project

Gilroy – The South County Regional Wastewater Authority has begun work on a project to pump treated water to the Pajaro River during the rainy season. The project was held up in court for several years, but cleared its final legal hurdles earlier this year.

When the project is complete – it’s expected to take about three years – the Gilroy-Morgan Hill partnership will be able to direct tertiary-treated wastewater to the Pajaro during the winter.

“It rounds out our ability to safely, and in an environmentally-friendly way, get rid of wastewater during all months of the year,” Gilroy City Administrator Jay Baksa said.

Victim of a rollover accident sought

Morgan Hill – Police are searching for a person suspected of a hit-and-run on Dewitt Avenue north of W. Edmundson Avenue in Morgan Hill Wednesday morning.

A passer-by reported seeing a 1989 Mercury Tracer involved in a vehicle accident, and the responding California Highway Patrol officer found the car overturned, with a pool of blood on the driver’s side roof. The time of the accident was unknown, but when the officer arrived about 4am, the engine was cool, the CHP said.

Saint Louise Regional Hospital did not have any patients with injuries consistent with a traffic collision, and the CHP could not locate the registered owner.

Anyone with information may contact the CHP at 848-2324.
