Free mattress recycling available June 4
The Mattress Recycling Council will host a no-cost mattress and box spring recycling event on June 4 at Gilroy City Hall, 7351 Rosanna Ave., from 9am to 2pm.
Each resident can bring up to four mattresses, box springs or futons for recycling at no-cost. No proof of residency is needed and there will be a crew on-site to assist.
This event is for mattresses only. To recycle or dispose of other bulky items, residents should contact the San Martin Transfer Station located at 14070 Llagas Ave. Items recycled or disposed of at the San Martin Transfer Station may require a fee.

Business relief grants offered
One-time business relief grants are available for qualifying businesses within Gilroy city limits.
Grants are based on the number of full-time employees with awards ranging from $5,000-$10,000.
Applications are due by June 10 and are available at cityofgilroy.org/843/Small-Business-Relief-Program.
In-person support with the application process will be offered on June 3 from 9am–6pm, with more information to be provided at a later date.

Gilroyans named to SNHU President’s List
Four Gilroyans were named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2022 President’s List.
They are Jinno Beddingfield, Lorie Castro, Christina Kawano and Chelsea Rojas.
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President’s List.
Area residents earn academic honors at Benedictine College
Two local students were named to the Dean’s List at Benedictine College for the semester that ended May 10.
They are Sophine Le of Gilroy and Graham Grisedale of San Martin.
Full time students with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.95 are named to the Dean’s List.
Founded in 1858, Benedictine College is a Catholic college located in Atchison, Kan.
