GILROY – Lopez Vending Machines clinched a tie for the first-half Men’s BB League title Tuesday with a 16-9 victory over the Gilroy Clippers at Christmas Hill Park.

Rich Perez hit a run-scoring triple and scored on a Doug Cummings single in the fifth inning to give the Clippers a 6-1 lead. The Vendors responded with 14 runs in the sixth inning, sparked by two triples from Danny Jacobo. Jimmy Tomasetti, Johnny Salgado and Jess Lopez Sr. each drilled two singles and scored twice in the decisive rally.

Jess Lopez Jr. claimed the game batting honors with four singles for Lopez Vending (4-0-1). Joe Ojeda went 3-for-4 and Cummings homered for the Clippers.

Jim Gruber and Jeremy Sweatman each hit two home runs as Little Pizzarena defeated the Playaz 33-5. Julian Rodriquez tagged five Pizzarena (2-2-1) singles. Mike Luna went 4-for-4 for the Playaz.

Humboldt Brewing snapped a four-game losing streak with a 17-12 decision over Kenko Pipelayers Tuesday in Men’s C League play at Las Animas Park.

Mike Wall went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs for the Brewers. Trailing 9-4 after four innings, Humboldt pushed across 10 runs in the fifth behind a single and double from Greg Gilliam.

Ben Roybal, Dave Plaza, Gilliam and Dave Robinson each finished with three hits for the winners. Joe Lovecchio and Brock Prather both homered in 3-for-4 nights for Kenko. Scott Perkins delivered a single, double and triple.

Puzzle Systems locked up a share of the first-half Men’s DD League crown Tuesday with a 31-3 nod over Blackout Window Tinting at Gavilan Sports Park.

Mike Leslie hit three home runs and Ray Bautista added a homer, three doubles and a single for 5-0 Puzzle. Steve Ayala and Chris Velador hit run-scoring singles for Blackout.

Tony Martinez launched a grand slam to highlight a 22-11 Team HJ-FX victory over Machinist Cooperative. Mike Kachel went 4-for-4, Brett Faust 4-for-5 for 4-1 Team HJ-FX. Puzzle faces TeamHJ-FX Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Gavilan.

Matt Warren homered in a 3-for-4 effort for Machinist. Greg Lucio went 4-for-4, Eric Noma 3-for-4.

Mike Boyle and Mike Santana each went 4-for-5 as Me & Julio trimmed Family Affair 25-21. Pat Braxton went 3-for-3 with five RBI and Darren Newton drove in four runs for the winners. Louie Martinez, Nick Ramos and Rich Altamirano hit Family Affair homers.
