Avery Trevino scored for the Mets in the first inning, but the Rangers Chris Spohr answered back with a powerful solo homerun in the second to tie the game.
Despite hits by Mets, Dylan McPhillips and Makayo Duyao, and singles by Rangers, Sam Kent and Spohr, the score remained tied.
Rangers’ starting pitcher Darren Santos had 10 strikeouts in five innings. Max Kent relieved Santos in the sixth and recorded one strikeout in his one inning of work. Mets pitcher Makayo Duyao tossed a complete game with five strikeouts.
