Morgan Hill resident Mary Grace Leonard, age 79, died May 15, 2003. She was born in Gunnison, Colo. on March 9, 1924, to Harry and Bridget Vader.
She joined the United States Marine Corp during World War II and served for two years.
In 1946 she married Arnold L. Leonard, they were married for 49 years. He passed away in 1996. They moved to California to start their life together. They worked on several cattle ranches in Willits, Oakdale and San Simeon, before settling in Morgan Hill in 1953, where they raised their family. She worked at the James Boys Ranch, Pedrizzetti Winery Tasting Room and Kirigin Cellars Tasting Room.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold and her son Arnold Lee Leonard Jr.
She is survived by her children Mike Leonard of Morgan Hill, Kay Boyce of Morgan Hill, Sandy Ponzini of Hollister and Stephen Leonard of Morgan Hill; her brothers, Chuck Pressler of San Jose, Harry Vader and Hugh Pressler, both of Gunnison; and five grandchildren.
She was a member of Hope Rehabilatation, Gateway Center, special Olympics and St. Catherine Parish.
Visitation will be held today at 5 p.m. with a vigil service to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St., Morgan Hill. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Catherine Church, 17400 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill.
Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 11 First St., Gilroy.
