Four adults arrested Friday on suspicion of various drug
charges

Morgan Hill – Three Morgan Hill residents and a San Jose man were arrested on various drug charges after officers served a search warrant at a mobile home park in north Morgan Hill Friday morning.

When the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team served the warrant at the trailer, located at 200 Burnett Ave., in the Madrone Mobile Estates, they found drugs with an wholesale street value of about $7,000.

John Howland, of Morgan Hill, was taken to Santa Clara County Jail for alleged possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a deadly weapon (nunchucks) and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Morgan Hill Police Department Street Crimes Detective Mindy Zen said there may be a possible gang enhancement to Howland’s charges.

Besides Howland, there were three other adults in the trailer and four teenagers. Officers arrested the adults without incident. Phil Barbosa, 48, of Morgan Hill, and Diana Barbosa, 41, of Morgan Hill, were cited and released on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.

David Castaneda, 43, of San Jose was cited and released on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Besides Howland, Phil Barbosa, 48, of Morgan Hill, and Diana Barbosa, 41, of Morgan Hill, were cited and released on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. David Castaneda, 43, of San Jose was cited and released on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Inside the trailer, officers found 95.23 grams of crystal methamphetamine, plus a separate 1.22 grams of the substance, 13.02 grams of marijuana, packaging materials and $660 in cash.

Zen said two of the youth were placed in protective custody. The other two teens were released to their parents. One was a runaway and the other had spent the night at the trailer. One of the four teenagers is 14 years old and three are 15 years old.

Zen said the search and seizure and arrests occurred without incident.

“Nobody put up a fight,” she said. “It was a very clean entry and clean arrest.”

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that can be smoked, snorted or injected. It’s also known by the names crank, ice, speed or crystal meth.
