Nickerson of Gilroy, and more than 2, 200 marines and sailors
assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit recently deployed to
Iraq.
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Marc A. Nickerson, son of Jennifer A. Nickerson of Gilroy, and more than 2, 200 marines and sailors assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit recently deployed to Iraq.
The unit will stop at March Air Reserve Base in Southern California for specialized training in patrolling, operating vehicle checkpoints and responding to threats.
Nickerson’s unit is an expeditionary intervention force with the ability to organize rapidly for combat operations in virtually any environment.
Nickerson is a 2002 graduate of Yolo High School in Lodi and joined the Marine Corps in March 2002.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Robert I. Uyematsu has graduated from the ground radio communications equipment apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
Uyematsu is the son of Sachiko I. and Robert S. Uyematsu of Aromas.
He is a 1999 graduate of Watsonville High School.
