Gilroyans hoping their bout with wet, wintry weather had ended could be in for a damp disappointment this week and might face brisk temperatures within several days.

What’s on tap for Saturday? Slight chance of showers, mostly cloudy, 32 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, brisker temperatures and even more precipitation are in store following last week’s stormy conditions, which poured 3.35 inches of precipitation as recorded at the Gilroy Fire Department Chestnut station. On Feb. 16, a brief-but-pounding episode of hail even turned practice surfaces from green to white at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

This week’s cold, moist conditions, expected to move in Thursday, will come with a caveat: Snow could appear as low as 1,000 feet.

It would be the second time in about a week the Bay Area has been dusted with snow. On Saturday, snow hit the Summit of Highway 17 and stuck to parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Tonight, the low in Gilroy will be about 37 degrees and skies should remain mostly sunny until Thursday, when there is a 30 percent chance of rain. Highs will dip down into the 40s heading into the weekend with lows staying in he mid to upper 30s.
