Gilroy’s newest medical facility for older adults, the CareMore Care Center, will host its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at 7800 Wren Ave., Building C Suite 131.
The facility, which officials say will be home to the latest in digital remote patient monitoring technology, is equipped to care for adults with a variety of medical conditions, from the chronically ill to those in good health.
Medical personnel and staff members with the CareMore Health Plan, a Medicare Advantage Plan that serves more than 60,000 Medicare members in California, Nevada and Arizona, will provide free tours of the facility Thursday and be on hand to discuss the new center and its offerings.
“The CareMore Care Center ushers in a new era in how we treat older adults,” said Roslyn Jacobs, CareMore sales manager in Santa Clara County. “Instead of having patients travel all over the area to see different doctors and specialists for medical care, the care center medical teams revolve around the patient in a one-stop facility.”
Jacobs said the Gilroy Care Center will feature podiatry, mental health services, diabetes management, wound management, a hypertension program, prevention services and many other programs.
“The care center will serve as the centerpiece for our smart patient technology that allows our doctors and team members to monitor patients’ health from their home each day,” said Dr. Johnny Choi, regional medical officer for CareMore. “A patient with hypertension, for example, will be fitted with a blood pressure device that they will use at home and it will send the patient’s blood pressure each day to our doctors via remote technology.”
If a patient fitted with a monitor shows high blood pressure, Dr. Choi said the patient will be contacted for a medication adjustment or will be advised to see a doctor immediately.
For healthier older adults, the Care Center will offer preventive services including screening and wellness programs.
Senior Regional Sales Manager in northern California, Cheri Brown, said CareMore hopes to lower patient costs and help seniors live longer, more independent lives.
“We are excited to open the Gilroy facility and bring jobs and a new high quality concept in medical care to the community,” Brown said.
CareMore currently has two other care centers and one urgent care center in Santa Clara County, all located in San Jose.
