An Amtrak train struck a truck on the train tracks on Palm Avenue and Monterey Highway, south of San Jose, according to public information officer for Caltrain, Christine Dunn.

James H. Weitz May 14, 1939 – March 4, 2012
James H. Weitz passed away in Hollister at the age of 72 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Victoria, TX. A veteran of three years in the US Army, Aug. 1958 to Aug. 1961, where he was trained as a combat engineer.

Alleged puppy killer incompetent for trial, for now
The Gilroy man who’s been in custody since May 2011 for allegedly killing his wife’s 6-week-old Chihuahua puppy was deemed incompetent to continue on to trial – for now at least – according to Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Troy Benson.
