Hospital battle rages in Gilroy

It was squeeze-in-only room at Gilroy City Hall as an overflow crowd of more than 100 people squared off over the proposed sale of Saint Louise Regional Hospital and DePaul Medical Center in Morgan Hill. Dozens waited hours for a two-minute chance to give their two-cents on an issue that has divided communities and a union.

Streetlights on Murray Avenue about ready to light the darkness

I’m having a problem getting five streetlights on Murray Avenue lit. There are five streetlights that have been out since March. I’ve talked to Henry and Joe and they told us by October it would be done, and they still haven’t done it. The last thing they said was that it was political. I don’t know what that means. Maybe you can help me.

Police blotter: Burglary, fraud, indecent exposure

The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a variety of crimes the past week, including burglary, vehicle theft, possession of a dirk or dagger and indecent exposure. Arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter—a public document obtained under the California Public Record's Act—between Jan. 6 through 13. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.
