UPDATED: One man dead, woman seriously injured in motorcycle accident

Lisa Faria, a 49-year-old agent for Intero Real Estate in Gilroy, suffered a fractured skull and a blood clot on her brain after the motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger was involved in a fatal accident near Hollister.

Gilroy Chamber of Commerce opposes increase in minimum wage

Convicted embezzler Lori McVicar will be in court Wednesday for her probation violation hearing, and she might have another plan to help fully pay back the more than $15,000 she still owes to Rod Kelley Elementary School.

First Street closed

The Gilroy Police Department announced at 3:15 p.m. on Monday that First Street between Church Street and Hanna Street is closed because a car crashed into a support cable on a power line. Traffic is being diverted until the power line is repaired. Police Sgt. Pedro Espinoza said First Street is expected to reopen in less than an hour.

Armed robbery in Home Goods parking lot

Two men pointed a gun at a 32-year-old woman in the parking lot of Home Goods on Renz Lane at 7 p.m. June 29 and fled on foot with her purse, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department. Authorities say the suspects have not been caught.
