Gilroy woman dies after crashing SUV into Coyote Creek

A 39-year-old woman from Gilroy died shortly after 3:15 a.m. Sunday when the Toyota SUV she was driving southbound on US 101 crashed through a chain-link fence and tumbled 25 feet into Coyote Creek near Morgan Hill, according to a CHP press release.

Drive-by shooting victim now a suspect in unrelated violent crime spree

In yet another bizarre twist in the ongoing attempt to bring five suspects in the 2011 drive-by shooting that killed 14-year-old Tara Romero to trial, the attorney for one of the suspects had to recuse himself from the case Friday because his office is representing a victim of that shooting who is now a suspect in an unrelated violent crime spree that happened earlier this year in San Jose.
