Senior Spotlights 2013

Selecting students for the Gilroy Dispatch's annual senior spotlight honor is no enviable task. That's why we make the principals do it (and they resent us for making them narrow it down to one!) These students have navigated the labyrinth of high school hurdles and we are inspired by their optimistic outlook, refreshing attitudes and heartfelt honesty. We celebrate them, their families, their mentors and all the graduating seniors in the Class of 2013 for their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck and a fulfilling future.

Influx of industry in Morgan Hill

Industrial and related development in Morgan Hill has surged recently, jumping from a flat line during the Great Recession to the sale or lease of about 494,000 square feet of previously vacant space in the last six months, according to City staff.

Nuestra Familia busted

In the largest criminal gang case in county history, the Santa Clara County Grand Jury indicted 48 suspected members – 11 of them from Gilroy – of the notorious Nuestra Familia gang on 77 felony counts including drug sales, witness intimidation, homicide and bank robbery.

City to approve new contracts for police, management

The City of Gilroy will approve and adopt a Memorandum of Understanding for a two-year contract with AFSCME Local 101 and the Gilroy Management Association at next Monday’s regular Council meeting. No deal has yet been reached with IAFF Local 2805 representing Gilroy's firefighters.
