Mayor Ron Gonzalez steps down
San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzalez, the driving force behind rapid development of Coyote Valley and the proposal to extend BART to San Jose, has stepped down from both groups at the heart of planning for both projects. The move comes in advance of a vote by his own city council on whether or not to remove him from his appointment to Coyote task force and the VTA following revelations that he struck back-room deals with NorCal Waste that cost San Jose residents millions in tax dollars.
