GILROY – Obata Farms claimed a share of the Men’s C League’s second-half title Friday with a 26-8 nod over the Westwood Barbers at Las Animas Park.
The Playaz matched the 5-1 record of Obata Farms with a forfeit win over Punishment Inc. The Playaz and Obata Farms will play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 11 at Christmas Hill Park for the right to represent the C League in the post-season against the Good Fellas.
Mario Bena hit a grand slam in a 6-for-7 night and Mark Vodanovich went 6-for-6 and scored five runs to key the Obata offense. Gino Martinez and Daniel Vasquez each homered for the 3-3 Barbers.
Dequin’s Auto Body completed a 6-0 second half in the Men’s D League by defeating In The Zone 11-5 Friday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Dequin’s struck for four runs in the fourth for a 4-4 tie, keyed by a two-run single from Bob Mang. Brothers Darren and Dave Newton each provided a run-scoring double in a five-run fifth for Dequin’s. Tom Morrow and Leroy Martinez each singled and doubled for the Zone.

Mike Hernandez went 4-for-4 and Scott Rader homered in a 3-for-3 effort for the 5-1 Aladdin-Rhino offense. Joe Duran went 3-for-3 and scored three Slammer runs.
Matias Franco went 4-for-4 with a grand slam as Cosa Nostra topped Los Chilotes 15-6.
Robert Vasquez collected four hits to spark the Hustlers past the Bomb Squad 16-3. Isaiah Gonzalez managed two singles and a sacrifice fly for the Squad.
The Titans dropped an 8-7 squeaker to Team Heinzen, but won the second-half Men’s E title when Claddagh Brew Crew (4-2) lost a 17-10 decision to Blackout Window Tinting Thursday at Las Animas.
Team Heinzen capped an eight-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning with four consecutive two-out singles, topped by a Manny Freitas hit. Greg Renn went 3-for-3 for the 5-1 Titans.
Jason Corral and Anthony Duran each hit a triple and two singles in the Blackout upset of the Brew Crew. Parker Hathaway scored three Claddagh runs.
Courtesy Chevrolet finished at 5-1 in the Men’s EE League, winning the second-half crown when challenger Bay Area Communications Loco Boys lost a 10-5 contest to VFW Bingo Thursday at Christmas Hill.
Jeff Rhodes singled home Gian Rossini to snap a 5-5 tie as Solid Ground surprised Courtesy Chevrolet 7-5.
Omar Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead VFW Bingo past the Loco Boys. Chris Eslick went 2-for-2 for the Loco Boys.
John Ceballos pitched a shut-out to lead Radiator Doctor by the Good Ole Boys 7-0. Paul Sanchez homered for the Doctor.
