I live in San Francisco and currently the producer of The San Francisco Improv Festival. I have been part of The Second City Chicago touring ensemble … and Artistic Director of Oui Be Negroes, The only African-American Sketch Comedy Ensemble in the country.
I know of ScipTease Improv, and the incredible shows in Santa Cruz.
The idea that any English/theatre teacher who would be fired because of a “Name of an improv comedy ensemble” has now crossed even my ironic limits.
I would like to personally know what sort of heavy medication the Gilroy Unified School District was doing.
I want to know exactly when, where and how The GUSD lost any sort of humor? Did any of these people even venture to the Web site … which is pretty heavy tongue in cheek parody … or at least even venture to “A SHOW” where they have been reviewed by the Santa Cruz Guide as a “hilarious performance that challenges conventional notions of theater and performance art.”
Kristen Porter: If you ever … ever … want to come to a real city school district without incompetent school board officials with and an obvious need to unclench collective bottoms … please move to San Francisco. Your skills will be appreciated here.
And you can always come to The Monday Night Improv Jam and work out with us. If not, I will buy you a beer at The Santa Cruz Improv Festival, and sit in the glow of the English/Theatre skills you have. As a matter of fact, I invite the entire GUSD board to The Santa Cruz Improv Festival. It is obvious all of you are in desperate need of a good laugh – once you get over the The Name of Oui Be Negroes.
