GILROY – The revamped OMI Eagles posted their first victory of the season Saturday as they topped the Santa Cruz Breakers 2-1 using a strong team effort.

Goalie Matt Morgan played solid in net – allowing only one goal that found the far upper left corner. The defense held up strong as well with standout outings from Jordan Bredehoeft, Chris Dasgupta and Jorge Enriquez. Anchoring the midfield were Sean Little, Nick Salvemini, J.P. Sanchez, Pedro Ulloa and Garrett Wheeler. Providing a relentless attack for the Breakers’ goal were Roupen Arzoumanian, Pablo Figueroa, Dylan Frechette and Adam Johnson.

The Breakers scored first, but the Eagles came back to tie the game on Orlando Villa’s unassisted strike to close out the first-half scoring. The Eagles went ahead in the second half when Wheeler scored the game-winner with an assist via Villa.

This weekend, the OMI Eagles head to Danville for the Headless Horseman Tournament.
