U8 Boys

Gilroy Storm 6, Team #6 3

–The Storm (5-1) played an exciting game against the Team #6 – which opened the game with an early strike before the Storm got on track. The Storm scored the next three goals going into halftime with a 3-1 lead and then added two consecutive goals to open the second half. Team #6 started their comeback closing the gap 5-3 before Storm’s Jose Salgado closed the door with his third goal for a hat trick. Zack Loo continued his great offensive season with three goals as well. Josh Wheat and Chad Hartman helped with a couple of assists each and Andy Hernandez made several stops during the second half in net.

Earthquakes 7, Green Raptors 2

–The Earthquakes (5-0-1) opened with a goal from Alexander Vega, but it was the Raptors answered right back. Quakes’ Gasper Figueroa then netted a shot to reclaim the lead, but the Raptors struck back again to tie the score at 2-2. The Earthquakes then pulled away with five unanswered goals – one from Tristan Ceseria, his first of the season, and four more from Gasper for a total of five. Israel Cadile tallied four assists.

U8 Girls

Visual Edge Optometrics Cheetahs 4, MH All-Stars 0

–Goalies Jordan Mazza and Caitlyn Svardal held the All-Stars scoreless in an exciting match. Gina Rodriguez put on a star perfomance as sweeper while Katie Clark led the offense with two goals. Annie Lopez and Emma Morley each added one to complete the scoring. Kristen Mank and Briana Gutierrez provided key assists in keeping the pressure up.

Visual Edge Optometrics Cheetahs 2, Purple Dolphins 3

–Emma Morley scored her first-ever career goal and Andrea Kovach added a second in a competitive game. Samantha Hernandez put on a fabulous show as sweeper and the trio of Jordan Mazza, Katie Clark, and Kristen Mank put forth strong efforts on defense. The Cheetahs made a strong run at the end of the second half – but came up short in this one.

White Lightning 8, Tigers 1

–White Lightning kept the Tigers defense busy the entire game with numerous saves by their fearless goalies. Nonetheless, the Lightning’s effective passing and perseverance resulted in successful scoring attempts. Finding the back of the net for the Lightning were: Santamaria (3 goals); Emma Leach (2 goals); Kimberly Davis (2 goals); and Emily Barham (1 goal). The Tigers scored one goal in the first half, but Lightning goalie Tenley Holland shut them down after that.

U10 Girls

Dr. Smith’s Red Demons 1, Yellow Jackets 1

–Goalies Alli Unger and Ashley McDermott made several blocks in the goal box and only allowed the Yellow Jackets to score one goal. Defenders Jennifer Velasquez and Monique Kerstens were key in the Demons’ defense with numerous blocks, steals and passes up the field. Francesca Comin and Brianna Velasquez were instrumental for both the offense and defense in the position of sweeper. Forwards Kate Wheat, Jessica Brager and Alex Rangel made several passes and attacks at the goal. Lauren Block scored the Red Demons’ only goal with her kick into the right corner of the goal in the second half.

U14 Boys

Gilroy Timberwolves 4, San Jose Serpants 2

–Wolves’ Raul Quintanar, Brent Eaton, Roy Oneto, Ben Vega, and Andrew Heinzen were too quick for San Jose to handle as they kept the pressure on throughout. Peter Menig, Max Perkins, Emmanuel Aceves, Henry Meier, Javani Escalante, Nick Xydes, and Tyler Hill did an outstanding job of controlling the midfield and feeding the ball up to the forwards. James Camacho, Michael Chrisman, Kevin Bruce, and Aaron-James Rodriquez played a strong and physical type of defense that gave the Serpants trouble all day. Tim Sterner and Juan Zarate were tough in goal. The Timberwolves are getting better each week and currently have a record of 3-1-1.

U14 Girls

Rambunctious Red 0, Blue Angels 0

–The Rambunctious Red controlled the ball for much of the game. Samantha Saenz kept the Blue team from scoring and was successful at holding the Blue defense from setting up to score. Amy Fortino and Monica Mercado kept the ball in the offensive zone for the Red. Alexandria Comin came close to scoring for the Red, while defenders Erin Chan, Majesta Campbell, and Hannah Fioro prevented the Blue Angels from scoring. In the second half, Brandie Rodriguez made some great attempts to break the scoreless tie for the Rambunctious Red – but neither team could find the back of the net.
