Pamela Joyce Collier January 16, 1922 – April 15, 2014

Cremation arrangements were through the Neptune Society.
Pamela passed away peacefully in Gilroy on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, after a long, full and remarkable life.
Pamela Joyce Maule Warner was born in 1922 in Bareilly, India to English parents, Ethyl Joyce and George Francis Warner, and was raised in England and Shanghai, China.
As a young woman she was drawn to the performing arts of theater and dance and received degrees from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and The Royal Academy of Dancing in London, England.
ring World War II she met and fell in love with a young American army officer and photographer, Charles Collier. They were married in Salisbury, England on August 10th, 1945 at the war’s end and then moved to California in 1946.
Circumstances and employment moved the new family around from Pacoima to East Los Angeles and eventually to Monterey Park.
While raising their son, Pam found her talent and calling in teaching reading, elocution, drama and dance to children. Being young at heart herself, she had a natural rapport with her students.
Over 40 years countless numbers of children spanning multiple generations learned to read well due to her tutoring. Concurrently, Pam taught Royal Academy ballet at the Los Angeles School of Art & Music for over 20 years.
Somehow, through all of this, she also managed to find the time to perform in local theater productions and for a while hosted a children’s poetry radio program on KPFK called ‘Time for Rhyme’.
In retirement she and Charles were active in the Langley Senior Center in Monterey Park for many years. In the autumn of 2004 Pam relocated to the Village Green community in Gilroy to be near her son.
Her vitality, dramatic expressiveness and impromptu performances were admired and enjoyed by most that met her. She will be missed.
Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Collier, and is survived by her brother, Bill Warner, in Essex, England and his family and descendants, and her son, David Collier, daughter-in-law Heidi and granddaughter Blythe Nora Collier.
