Mayor Al Pinheiro wrote in an email that after the golf tournament, “Brian now has reached his original goal thanks to all the people that donated and participated at the fundraiser.”
“I am so proud of our community in so many ways and this is just another example that people step up to volunteer and donate for a great cause,” Pinheiro wrote.
Brian’s wife Kathy wrote to Pinheiro explaining they believed canceling the event now would be prudent as they have reached their goal to cover out-of-pocket expenses. Bowe has carcinoid cancer and is flying to Houston for treatment. He was diagnosed in 2005.
“And, we definitely agree we live in a wonderful, generous community. Thank you all for everything you have done,” Kathy wrote in an email.
Donations will be returned by committee members.
