On behalf of the politically conservative in our fair city, I would like to ask Mr. Jones if he would simply prefer us to wear a large letter “C” on our chest as a means of public identification to our political affiliation; a scarlet letter of sorts?
The suggestion that The Dispatch editors are leaning to the right on the opinion page is truly a moot point, for that is just what the opinion page is. If The Dispatch were to come out and state for the record that they were card-carrying conservatives, would you pick up your subscription and crayons and go play elsewhere?
The editor publishes your letters regardless of how silly I think your opinions are. You criticized Mr. Guenther for reading newsmax.com however to that end may I ask you, do you find your “fair and balanced” news in the pages of the SJ Mercury or the SF Chronicle, how about CNN? The fact that a majority of the outlet media is politically liberal has only lulled us into believing that this is in fact accurate, fair and balanced journalism. The Dispatch’s support for the gubernatorial bid of Sen. Tom McClintock suggests that they were endorsing a fiscally conservative candidate that many on both sides of the political isle agreed was economically, the strongest applicant. For me personally, Sen. McClintock stands for absolutely everything I personally embrace. Does that make me strange or a radical right winger? The fact that the recall passed handily and a Republican will be taking over the office, suggests that this way of thinking is not so far from mainstream.
