FAYETTE, Iowa – Outfielder Scott Perkins is another local athlete who is making his mark out of state after two baseball seasons at Gavilan College.

The 2001 Gilroy High graduate recently completed a stellar season with the Upper Iowa University baseball team.

The junior outfielder appeared in 29 games and made 28 starts for the Peacocks. Perkins hit .315 with two doubles and a team-high six home runs. He drove in 20 runs and scored 18 times. He compiled a .539 slugging percentage and had eight multi-hit games.

His best game of the season was a 3-for-3 performance with two walks vs. Central (Iowa) College on April 27. He homered, scored four runs and knocked in four that afternoon.

The Peacocks finished the 2004 season with a 24-32 record. Upper Iowa University, located in Fayette, is the only NCAA Division II institution in the state of Iowa.
