Phyllis L. Gormly the daughter of Judge Leon T. Thomas and Hazel Hornline Thomas passed away in Seattle, Wash., on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Phyllis was born in Gilroy in 1908 at the Thomas homestead on Thomas Lane. She was a graduate of Gilroy High School and completed her professional education at the University of California and San Jose State. She then taught for several years in the Gilroy school system. In 1936, she married Horace Gormly and moved to Southern California until 1945 when she returned to Gilroy when Horace assumed the position of plant engineer for the Gentry Corp. They lived here in Gilroy until 1960 when they returned to Southern California. Horace passed away in 1986, and in 1998 Phyllis moved to Seattle to be closer to her daughter and her family.
She leaves behind Fay L. Chapman, her husband Warren and their three daughters Katie, Annie and Laura and Jim Gormly his wife Mary and their sons Christopher and Sherwin.
She will be returned to Gilroy for interment at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
