Enjoy ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Gilroy – Enjoy a night of dancing from 6 to 9pm tonight at a middle school dance.

The dance, for all sixth- and seventh-grade students who attend Brownell, South Valley or Ascencion Solorsano middle schools, takes place at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St.

The cost is $3, and includes a DJ, dancing, games, prizes and pizza. Students must show a school identification card or have an official form signed by the students principal or vice principal.

The dance is put on by the city of Gilroy in cooperation with the Gilroy Unified School District and is sponsored by the Gilroy Rotary Club.

Gavilan’s Fly Fishing for Fun

Morgan Hill – A “Fly Fishing For Fun” event will be held from 10am to 1pm, Saturday, at the Morgan Hill Community Center, 17060 Monterey Road. Cost is $30 plus $15 for equipment rental and a booklet.

Republican Women Meet Saturday

Gilroy – The South Valley Republican Women Federated Club invites Republican men and women to join their monthly meetings. Regular lunch meetings are held the second Saturday of the month.

The next meeting is Saturday, at Mama Mia’s restaurant, 1360 1st St. The guest speaker is FBI special agent Eric LaMoe, who will speak on the topic of “Counter Terrorism in a Post 9/11 World.” The social begins at 11:30am with lunch at noon. The cost is $20.
