The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a wide variety of crimes this past week, including grand theft, evading police in a vehicle, cruelty to a child, lewd or lascivious acts on a child and burglary. All arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Nov. 9 and 16. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.
Battery
-Darrin Frank, 42, Nov. 8 at 7:20 p.m. on the 9300 block of Monterey Street for two charges of battery—one with serious bodily injury.
Burglary
-Forest Polinsky, 22, Nov. 8 at 10:41 p.m. near the intersection of Luchessa Avenue and Chestnut Street for felony second-degree burglary and resisting, delaying or obstructing police.
Cruelty to a child
-Alberto Rivera Ruiz, 36, Nov. 9 at 11 p.m. near the intersection of Hanna and Seventh streets for one felony charge of willfully causing or permitting a child to suffer.
-Lisa Faria, 51, Nov. 16 at 7:45 p.m. on the 1100 block of Rio Grande Way for one misdemeanor charge of willful cruelty to a child and battery on a former spouse, fiancé or friend.
Domestic violence
-Tonati Sanchez Bautista, 32, Nov. 9 at 10:10 p.m. on the 7600 block of Church Street for felony infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
-Eva Zuniga, 31, Nov. 16 at 2:45 p.m. on the 9300 block of Monterey Street for felony infliction of bodily injury on a spouse of cohabitant.
Drinking in public
-Antonio Carbajal, 69, Nov. 10 at 12 a.m. on the 7600 block of Monterey Street.
Driving under the influence
-Pedro Salinas, 37, Nov. 11 at 7:48 p.m. on the 500 block of W. 10th Street for DUI, driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher and driving while unlicensed.
-Humberto Montes, 42, Nov. 12 at 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and Seventh streets for DUI, driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.
-Faipoua Mareko, 30, Nov. 14 at 10:08 p.m. near the intersection of First and Monterey streets.
-David Velez, 52, Nov. 14 at 10:17 p.m. near the intersection of Church Avenue and Third Street.
-Adan Arredondo, 23, Nov. 16 at 2:30 a.m. on the 5900 block of Travel Park Circle for DUI, driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.
Driving violations
-Monica Calderon, 32, Nov. 10 at 4:15 p.m. at the Gilroy Police Department for expired registration, three charges of driving with privileges suspended or revoked, failing to provide evidence of financial responsibility, two charges of failure to use child seat restraint and exceeding maximum highway speed.
Evading police in a vehicle
-Joseph Perez, 29, Nov. 9 at 4:53 a.m. on the 500 block of Stoney Court for driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, evading police in a vehicle and reckless driving.
Forgery
-Cassandra Huerta, 23, Nov. 8 at 6:05 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and 10th streets for one felony charge and felony conspiracy to commit a crime.
Grand theft
-Fernando Narez, 31, Nov. 14 at 5:56 a.m. on the 8800 block of Monterey Street for felony grand theft, selling or aiding in the sale of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and resisting, delaying or obstructing police.
Lewd or lascivious acts on a child
-Derrick Meyer, 52, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. at the Gilroy Police Department for one felony charge, willfully failing to re-register as a sex offender, re-arrest for a probation violation and being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
Marijuana sales, firearms possession
-Israel Ruiz, 36, Nov. 14 at 8:28 a.m. on the 7500 block of Church Street for five felony charges: possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of ammunition as a felon, giving, selling or transporting more than 28.5 grams of marijuana and possession for sale or purchase.
Manufacturing a controlled substance
-Rene Vargas, 31, Nov. 11 at 7:21 p.m. on the 7600 block of Rosanna Street for felony manufacture of a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana/hash for sale and a felony charge of willfully causing or permitting a child to suffer.
Multiple charges
-Amanda Del La Maggiore, 25, Nov. 9 at 4:20 p.m. on the 7100 block of Camino Arroyo for felony possession of a controlled substance for sale, identity theft, petty theft and selling or aiding in the sale of stolen property.
Petty theft
-Yolana Duyao, 46, Nov. 11 at 10:19 p.m. on the 7100 block of Church Street for one misdemeanor charge and re-arrest for probation violation.
-Nathan Tomasini, 39, Nov. 13 at 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey Street and IOOF Avenue for petty theft with three or more priors.
Possession of a controlled substance for sale
-Loredo Paster, 56, Nov. 9 at 10:07 p.m. near the crossing of Filibro Drive and Royal Way for two felony charges: possession of marijuana or hash for sale and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
-Fred Weberpang, 25, Nov. 10 at 5:45 p.m. on the 6700 block of Camino Arroyo for one felony charge and possession of a narcotic controlled substance.

-James Holderfield, 34, Nov. 13 at 5:52 p.m. near the intersection of Alexander and 10th streets for one felony charge and use or being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Sexual intercourse with a minor
-Josue Belmont, 20, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Gilroy Police Department for one felony charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and two charges of battery against a spouse, cohabitant of friend.
Violation of a protective order
-Jose Morales, 21, Nov. 12 at 2:48 a.m. at the Gilroy Police Department.

-Jacob Henry, 33, Nov. 10 at 3:21 a.m. near the intersection of Church Street and Welburn Avenue.
-John Valderrama, 27, Nov. 15 at 2 a.m. on the 1000 block of Armand Court for one misdemeanor charge and unlawful possession of paraphernalia.
