A drunken driver who caused a three-car accident and then tried to hide in a downtown out-building was arrested Monday, police said.
Police responded to a report of a traffic collision near Monterey Road and Main Avenue about 5 p.m., according to Morgan Hill police Detective Scott Martin.
When officers arrived, witnesses reported the driver of one of the vehicles exited the car and ran toward First Street immediately after the collision.
The driver, later identified as Juan Martinez, 21, was found hiding in an exterior closet unit in a backyard on West First Street, Martin said.
In a field line-up, witnesses later identified Martinez as the driver who fled the scene of the accident, police said. He was arrested and booked at Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and a probation violation.
No injuries were reported in the accident, Martin said.
