Morgan Hill – A convicted sex offender who was arrested in April but was released from Santa Clara County Jail earlier this month has been seen recently in Morgan Hill neighborhoods and is reportedly selling coupon books in San Jose.

Daniel Duran, 42, has a history of violent sexual assaults. He was arrested and convicted of violating the restrictions of a registered sex offender after he talked with a school maintenance worker on the Nordstrom Elementary School campus in April.

Residents in San Jose, Duran’s last known address, have reported seeing Duran in neighborhoods going door to door selling coupon books and asking about homes for sale.

Morgan Hill police have requested a warrant for Duran’s arrest for soliciting for construction work without a permit and possibly prowling, according to Cmdr. David Swing.

Duran was reportedly asking residents on Morgan Avenue Saturday about homes for sale in the area and if they needed home repair or construction. A local real estate agent who lives in the area apparently recognized Duran and told him to leave the area. When he was in Morgan Hill in April, Duran appeared to be targeting real estate agents, frequenting open house events and visiting offices.

Police are advising real estate agents and all residents to be aware that Duran may be in the area.

Anyone with information about Duran is asked to contact Detective Kevin Beilmann at 779-2101.
