SALINAS — Seven Gilroy-area ballers will get their chance to shine once more this season as they take the court for the 7th Annual North-South High School All-Star Basketball Classic Friday at the Boys and Girls Club in Salinas.
Gilroy’s Zach Loo, Brianna Barron, Holly Lam and Leilani Mah as well as Christopher’s Shane Suttles, Cyndney Caradonna and Dejah Raoof will play in their first college-format basketball game. Loo and Suttles will team up on the North Boys team, while the Lady Cougars (Caradonna and Raoof) will represent the North Girls against the Gilroy trio of Barron, Lam and Mah who will play for the South team.
The North Boys will be coached by Stu Walters of Soquel, the South team by Ruben Alvarado of Gonzales. The North Girls are under the direction of Jennifer Keathly of Monte Vista Christian, while South is coached by Alex Medina of Soledad.
The game is hosted by the Salinas Steinbeck Rotary Club and features top-graduating seniors for the tri-county area. The girls tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys game slated for 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will go to Sunrise House — a youth, family counseling and crisis center in Salinas — and the Boys and Girls Club of Salinas.
