Alisal blanks Gilroy
Alisal scored a goal in each half to top Gilroy 2-0 Friday at home.
Brenda Zamudio and Oralia Perez both notched goals for the Trojans for the win.
The Mustangs (2-8 overall, 1-2 in league) will play Notre Dame at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at Rabo Bank Stadium.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Cowboys end Cougars’ winning streak
Salinas snapped Christopher’s six-game winning streak, handing it a 44-35 loss Friday at CHS.
The Cougars led 26-18 at halftime, but were held to just nine points in the second half.
Xander Bowers led Christopher with a double-double. He scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also had four blocks, three steals and an assist.
Dillon Day added 10 points and five rebounds, while Alec Cordova chipped in with eight points. Chad Hartman had eight rebounds.
The 11-4 Cougars—2-1 in league—will play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Seaside.
Mustangs fall to Vikings
North Salinas held Gilroy to single digits in every quarter en route to a 50-35 win Friday in Salinas.
The Mustangs trailed 25-17 at the break, but hung tough to post 18 points in the second half.
Kevin Azcueta led the team with 14 points—including four 3-pointers. Eric Heiser, Connor Doyle and Michael Kropff all added five points.
Gilroy (3-12 overall, 1-2 in league) will be back on the court at 7 p.m. Wednesday to host Everett Alvarez.
