The Christopher girls basketball team found itself in hole at halftime, a hole that was too keep to get out of.
The Cougars were held to just 11 points — three in the first quarter, eight in the second, to trail by 24 points heading into half. Though they found momentum after the break, it wasn’t enough to keep them from falling 65-46 to North Salinas at home Thursday.Â
Christopher was right in the game in the second half, being outscored by only one point in the third and besting the visitors by six, 19-13, in the final frame.
“We got off to a very slow, lethargic first half,” CHS coach Heather Stewart said. “We played with more energy and outscored them in the second. If we had started the game with that intensity, it would have been one we could have won. NS (North Salinas) girls played all four quarters with great intensity and that’s what it takes to win the way they are winning.”

Cydney Caradonna led the team with 16 points in the game. Khaya Price added 12 points, while Christa Arroyo scored eight and Dejah Raoof netted six.Â
Â
Christopher (8-10 overall, 3-4 in league) will be back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday at San Benito.Â
