GILROY—The Cougars girls golf team notched its second victory of the year, besting Alisal 332-335 in a closely contested match Wednesday at home.
Mia Navarro earned match medalist honors and battled with Alisal’s Jennifer Gonzalez to gain the accolade. Navarro edged out Gonzalez by two strokes to card a 49 to Gonzalez’s 51.
Frankie Vannie scored a 60 for Christopher, followed by Madisen Ruelas with a 70. Christopher freshman Sam Vogel made her golf debut and scored a 72.
Both teams were shorthanded and had to take automatic scores of 81 for their missing players.
The 2-5 Cougars will host San Benito at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
