As the season rolls on, the Cougars keep getting better.
Natalie Gutierrez and Alex Granados earned a share of the match medalists honors as they both shot a 44 en route to Christopher’s 253-352 win over Alisal Wednesday at Salinas Fairway. The score was a personal best for Granados.Â
“She’s starting to get comfortable with her swing again,” Cougars coach Manuel Gallardo said via email. “I felt that Salinas Fairways really fit her play style.”
Alisal had just three golfers competing and had to record 81s for their missing roster spots, but that didn’t deter Christopher from performing at a high level.Â
Mia Navarro shot a 51, while Nina Velez scored a 56. Frankie Vanni rounded out play with a 58 on the day.Â
The Cougars also played and beat Watsonville, 257-324, on Sept. 25 at home.Â
Vanni stole the show, recording her personal best of 53.
“It was nice to see Frankie shoot so well considering the hard work she has put in since the summer,” Gallardo said. “Her progress has really shown since last summer.”
Gutierrez and Velez shared medalist honors as both shot a 50.
Christopher (5-2) will be back on the course at 3 p.m. today taking on San Benito at San Juan Oaks.Â
