), she made a very good point about the immigrant protest.

I don’t agree with columnist Denise Apuzzo in most of what she writes about, but as I read her article today (“Thoughts on Racism in the Wake of the Walkouts”), she made a very good point about the immigrant protest.

Why are they carrying the Mexican flag when it’s America they are purportedly trying to embrace? I understand their plight – that they are trying to make a better life here, since they have no hope to do so in their homeland. So, yes, we Americans feel offended that they make their protest waving “the flag of the country they escaped and do not want to be forced to return to.”

Maybe they could have changed some opinions had they waved the “right” flag.
