DEAR EDITOR:
The advocates of same-sex marriage are missing the point when they base their arguments on “what’s the big deal” or “it doesn’t cost me anything and doesn’t hurt me.”
They also want to use the 14th amendment “…. nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws,” which again is missing the point.
If a person believes that the Bible is the inspired word of God, they must uphold its teachings regardless of what anyone else does or says.
The Bible clearly indicates that sexual immorality along with idolatry, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexual offenders, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers, or swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.
These are not my words, but God’s words.
You might think that this condemns most people on the planet, but there is a way out, being sanctified and justified in the name of Jesus. The real debate should be about the validity of the Bible, not about equal rights, whether it’s a state or federal issue or do we need a constitutional amendment or not.
Since we live in a democracy, I suggest we put it to a vote with the winner taking all.
That doesn’t mean that if I lose I will be happy about it, but I can say “God, it’s in your hands now.”
