Valley meet taking place Friday and Saturday, and the team won the
overall title with 243 points.

Five Gilroy wrestlers finished as champions at the Scotts Valley meet taking place Friday and Saturday, and the team won the overall title with 243 points.
The second-place finisher, Ponderosa, was 87 1/2 points behind Gilroy, with Los Gatos taking third at 146 1/2.
Jesse Delgado (112 pounds), Martin Gonzalez (119), Travis Sakamoto (145), Hunter Collins (189) and Jesse Rogers (215) all took first in their respective divisions by going undefeated, with Collins pinning every opponent he faced, including Ponderosa’s top-rated wrestler from a weight class below that moved up to face Collins.
Rodney Balajadia took fifth at 125 pounds, Vincent Aboytes took fourth at 140 pounds, Ethan Ogle took second at 171 pounds and Luis Barragan captured second in the heavyweight division.
The meet was an excellent warm-up for the season according to assistant coach Mike Koester and should prepare the team well for the upcoming Reno Tournament of Champions, which will be held Wednesday and Thursday.
