DEAR EDITOR:

For those of you sniveling about the new station and only a Star-Car (paramedics unit) in the northwest side of town consider a few of things.

First of all, owning a house requires fire insurance which will replace your valuables and the house if you get out when the smoke detectors warn you to. Secondly, you chose to live in this new area of town much nicer than the rest of the central part of Gilroy.

So with a little bit of financial boost in the economy, staffing is sure to be upgraded enabling the full-time fire truck to be activated. Third, how about the people who live on Hecker Pass, Burchell Road, Watsonville Road, El Matador Drive areas, they lack a paramedic unit and you don’t hear them crying.

But the real issue is this: If you have a heart attack, are bleeding to death, suffer a major auto accident on busy Santa Teresa, or your child is hit by a car, who’s going to save their life and get there the quickest? That wonderful NEW Star-Car paramedic rig that weighs less than half of the big fire truck might be able to speed to the scene just a tad faster and transport you to the nearest hospital.

Then you can come home to your beautiful insured home so that you can enjoy it for the rest of your long life.
