Fun in the best 2-of-3 competition at Las Animas Park.
GILROY – Radiator Doctor won Co-Rec C League Championship Series games on Thursday and Friday to pull off a 2-1 series triumph over Just For Fun in the best 2-of-3 competition at Las Animas Park.
Just For Fun opened the series with an 11-10 victory Tuesday, then built a 12-11 lead after six innings Thursday. Radiator Doctor exploded for 13 runs in the seventh and won 24-14. Radiator Doctor returned Friday to earn the championship with a 10-6 nod over Just For Fun.
Ryan Rojas hit two doubles, Henry Maquinalez Jr. slapped a triple and single, Jerry Johnston a single and double to spark Radiator Doctor to the 13-run seventh Thursday. Maquinalez went 6-for-6 and Johnston scored five runs. Nick Magee went 4-for-4 and Eddie Cordia powered a grand slam for Just For Fun.
Maquinalez returned Friday for two home runs and a single, while John Ceballos delivered three hits. Annette Maquinalez clinched the pennant with a two-run single. Cordia finished with a single, double and triple for Just For Fun.
Puzzle Systems needed a run-scoring single from Chase Locsin in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Family Affair 6-5 Thursday at Christmas Hill Park in the Men’s DD series clincher.
Family Affair pushed across five runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score, highlighted by a two-run single fromm Nick Ramos. Ramos went 3-for-3.
Jason Johnstone opened the Puzzle seventh with a single, moved to second on a Brian Sullivan flyout, then scored on Locsin’s liner to leftfield. Johnstone led the winners with three hits.
HMI took the Men’s EE League title with an 8-6 victory over Solid Ground Thursday. Tom Loc hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh as HMI claimed the series 2-0. Nate Galdos provided three hits for HMI. Art Webb went 4-for-4, Joey Costa 3-for-3 for Solid Ground.
Lopez Vending Machines took a forfeit win from Little Pizzarena to complete a 2-1 Men’s BB series decision Friday at Las Animas. Talamo Foods took a forfeit win over Victoria’s Restaurant Banditos Thursday for a 2-0 series nod in the Men’s B League action.
