District 5 upset Hard Ninety 58-47 on Wednesday in Men’s DD Basketball League play at Solorsano Gym to leave both clubs at 4-1 atop the six-team league.

Tucker Baksa scored 17 points as three District scorers finished in double figures. Baksa dropped in 13 points in the first half as District 5 built a 34-28 lead. Hard Ninety moved within four points twice in the second half.

Eric Tollison scored 16 points and Justin Nicholson netted 11 for the winners. Josh Bleen paced the Hard Ninety offense, hitting three 3-pointers on the way to 25 points. Mark Cisneros scored 11 points in the second half for Hard Ninety.

The Spartans snapped a four-game losing streak with a 57-47 nod over Free Range Laphog.

Thomas Doak made five field goals in the first eight minutes as the Spartans raced to a 31-21 halftime edge. Kristopher Dean led the Spartans with 16 points. Doak finished with 13 points, Gavin Menges scored 12 and Jason Ramirez scored 10. Jason Wolowitz and Matt Goshia each hit three 3-pointers on the way to 11 points for Laphog.

The Hawks (3-2) turned back Recology 49-39 as Hans Mendezona scored 10 points. Jesus Reyes, Pac Lotta and Mark Taylan followed with nine points each for the Hawks. Donny Gooding produced 14 points, Rob Silvia scored 11 and Devan Owens added 10 points for Recology (2-3).
