Tony’s Cronies swept to a 3-0 record in the Men’s Spring Basketball League standings Wednesday with a 63-50 victory over Recology at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Saleem Vakili tossed in 15 points as the Cronies took a one-game lead over Recology (2-1) in the 10-game season.
Jason Wolowitz threaded four 3-point field goals to finish the night with 12 points for Tony’s Cronies. LaMont Chappell worked inside for nine points. The Cronies held a 32-18 lead at halftime.
Donny Gooding slipped inside the Cronies defense to put up 22 points for Recology, including 20 of the team’s 32 points in the second half. Vance Lee produced nine points in the first half for Recology.
The Silicon Valley Hawks raced to a 36-24 intermission lead and held on to top the Spartans 57-47.
Mark Taylan converted five 3-pointers in the first half on the way to a 20-point showing for the 1-2 Hawks. Drew Pearson flipped in 11 points, Hans Mendezona 10 for the winners.
