J.T. Tipton scored 18 points in the second half Wednesday as Hard Ninety (5-0) managed to hold off the Underdogs 57-46 in Men’s Spring Basketball League action at Solorsano Gym.
Frankie Tomasetti anchored the Hard Ninety offense in the first half by scoring 11 points as the league leaders built a 25-21 lead at the intermission. Tomasetti finished with 12 points, Sig Reynisson 11 and Mark Cisneros 10 for the winners.
Adam Supnet scored 15 points in his debut for the Underdogs. Noel Hinojosa scored 12 points, Paramvir Singh 11 for the Underdogs.
PB4L won its fifth straight to reach 5-1 in second place with a 64-58 overtime win over Recology.
Anthony Butler aided the PB4L cause with a 21-point effort. Vince Bautista connected for 12 of his 18 PB4L points after halftime. Marty Bueno hit three 3-pointers on his way to 12 points for the winners.
Dolapo Opere hit four 3-pointers in a 16-point effort for Recology. Donny Gooding worked inside for 14 points, Tony Travis scored 11 and Ryan Valentino scored 10 for Recology.
Matt Kassel sank nine 3-pointers in a 28-point showing as 50 Shades of Bay Tree defeated AYOOO, 82-48.
Nate Kassel scored 17 points, Kameron Handy 13 and Dallas Jensen 10 for the 3-2 Shades. Alex Hernandez scored 12 points, Daniel Beckwith 10 for AYOOO.
