Johnny’s Bar and Grill capped an offense-dominated Men’s Winter BB League triplebill Tuesday at Christmas Hill Park with a 21-20 squeaker over Team Talamo.
Each of the six teams playing in the BB activity managed at least 17 runs. Johnny’s snuck past Team Talamo to move to 5-1 atop the seven-team standings. Obata Farms is second at 3-2 with the remaining five teams with three losses apiece.
Johnny’s struck for nine runs in the bottom of the final frame to secure the win. Adrian Avila produced two runs in the rally, including an RBI-single to end the contest.
Leroy Dozal and Tomas Carrillo socked home runs for the Grill. Esco Hernandez provided three hits and scored four runs, including a pair in the final inning.
Henry Calderon, Bobby Garcia, Raul Bueno and Jimmy Tomasetti stroked Team Talamo home runs. Danny Pequeno took game batting honors with a 5-for-5 night.
Ruben Ramirez and Rich Rodriquez each homered in a 5-for-6 effort to lead Craig Avila Bail Bonds by Crew Softball.
Each of the nine batters in the Bonds line-up netted at least three hits, including a home run and two singles from George Salgado Jr. Jose Flores went 5-for-5 and scored four runs for Crew Softball.
The Good Fellas used a 12-run second inning to upset Obata Farms 23-17. Rich Perez homered and Ralph Martinez and Adam Montarbo struck for four hits each for the Fellas. Jason Krulee, Mike Smith, Robert Silvia and Mario Bena each drilled four hits for the Farmers.
State Farm Insurance snapped a four-game Men’s Winter C League losing streak by topping Team Bud 19-10 Wednesday at Christmas Hill.
Josh Garcia went 3-for-5 with four RBI for State Farm. Brandon Orlando homered and Juan Arias provided three RBI-singles for Team Bud.
D.A. Wolfe Construction is 5-1 in second place after a 10-4 nod over Dee’z Nutz.
Junior Gutierrez and Marco Lopez each struck for three hits for the Builders. Willie Gamboa managed a single and triple for Dee’z.
Las Animas Sweepers defeated In The Zone 14-11 behind a pair of two-run homers from Mitch Ponce. Kevin orosco homered and Jason Thomas plated four runs with two triples and a Sweeper single. Mike Gonzalez went 4-for-4 for the Zone.
