AG Construction turned back Family First 13-5 Tuesday to keep its one-game lead over Those Guys in the Men’s Fall DD League standings at Las Animas Park.
AG Construction (5-1) expanded a 4-2 lead by pushing across nine runs in the fifth inning. Alex Garcia highlighted the rally with a three-run home run, his third hit of the game. Henry Huerta went 4-for-4, Jesse Romo 3-for-3 for the winners. Alex Lopez claimed two singles for Family First.
Those Guys (4-2) powered by Sons of Pitches 26-4 as Jake Wischmann hit three home runs and Tiny Maquinalez hit for the cycle. Fernando Gallo went 2-for-3 and scored twice for the Pitches.
Claddagh Brew Crew (3-3) climbed back into playoff contention with a 6-5 rally past Pinocchio’s Pizza.
Kevin Belanger and Rick Chavez scored runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Claddagh the decision. Willie Weihman and Belanger each finished with three Brew Crew hits. Esteban Rivera doubled and singles for Pinocchio’s Pizza. The Brew Crew is tied for third in the league along with Pinocchio’s and Family First.
Feather Haven reached 5-1 atop the Men’s Fall D League Wednesday with a 24-9 victory over Los Chilotes at Christmas Hill Park.
Trailing 8-6 after four frames, Feather Haven responded with five runs in the fifth, then 13 in the sixth inning. Dylan Davis, Bob Rocha and Bob Reggiani each posted two hits in the sixth inning for Feather Haven. Phillip Alosi went 4-for-4 for the winners. John Perez and Tai Quach each netted three hits for Los Chilotes (3-3).
The Borrachos remained in second place at 4-2 by outlasting Heinzen Manufacturing 17-13.
Danny Melendez ignited a five-run seventh inning for the Borrachos with a two-run home run as the winners expanded a 12-11 lead. Don Rose hit two Borrachos homers. Kevin Orosco hit for the cycle in a 5-for-5 showing for Heinzen.
Picasso’s Tattoo kept its post-season hope alive by edging VFW Bingo 23-20, leaving both teams at 3-3. Isaac Sepulveda, Victor Rodriguez and Jake Maslanka each produced four hits for Picasso’s Tattoo. Julio Zavala hit two home runs, Adam Kirkpatrick one for VFW Bingo.
Don’t Trip (5-1) continued one game ahead in the Women’s Fall League title race Wednesday with a 22-1 decision over Kalai Kraze. Liz Adams and Amanda Perez each posted four Don’t Trip hits. Dora Olivares scored the Kalai Kraze run.
Still Ms. BeHaving (4-2) kept pace with an 18-3 decision over Garlic Heat. Cynthia Garza homered and Stacey Schaffer went 4-for-4 for the winners. Julie Ruiz, Tara Aguilar and Lina DeLaTorre scored Garlic Heat runs.
