GILROY – No Soup 4 You defeated New Hope Community Church 15-11 Thursday in a battle of Men’s E Softball League unbeaten teams at Christmas Hill Park.
No Soup, 3-0, pushed across four runs in the top of the seventh to extend a 15-10 advantage. Jimmy Castaneda Jr. and Anthony Corral slapped consecutive RBI-doubles to highlight the rally.
Fernando Silva went 4-for-4, Corral 4-for-5 for the Soup. Ralph Ortez aided winner’s cause with a lead-off home run. Adolfo Tellez collected three hits and scored three runs for 1-1 New Hope.
The Titans moved into third place at 2-1 with a 25-5 nod over the Regulators.
Jim Reimer belted five hits and Vance Lee and Mike Vanni popped home runs for the Titans. Jaime Garcia went 2-for-2 for the Regulators. Alfonso Cruz, Danny Garcia and Carlos Naranjo each went 2-for-3 for the losers.
Trevino Brothers Construction snapped a two-game losing streak by trimming Walton & Sons Masonry 22-17.
Steve Murnin homered in a 3-fof-4 effort and Brian Cortez and Bubba Castaneda each went 3-for-3 for the Builders. Tim Graves lined a homer and two singles for Walton & Sons.
Willis Construction (3-0) rolled by Claddagh Brew Crew 16-5 Thursday to take sole possession of first place in the Men’s EE League at Las Animas Park.
Luis Gutierrez hit two home runs and Jose Gutierrez added a homer and two singles for Willis. Mike Gracia went 3-for-4 and scored three Construction runs. Willie Weihman went 3-for-3 for Claddagh (2-1).
VFW Bingo moved to 2-1 with a 33-8 victory over the Good Ole Boys. Julio Zavala, Steve Lemberger, Stephen Jeske, Dustin Robinson and John Castro hit Bingo homers. Robie Kramer tripled and doubled, Bob Martin tripled and singled for the Good Ole Boys.
St. Mary Men’s Club used three hits apiece by Emmet McCarthy and Mel Shields to stop ACP 10-5. John Macedo scored three St. Mary Men’s Club runs. Steven Lira homered for ACP.
