Red Phone: Low branches need to be cut

Is it me or is the steam that is released from the roof top of
Bay Sheets getting louder and louder, especially at night?
“Is it me or is the steam that is released from the roof top of Bay Sheets getting louder and louder, especially at night?”

Red Phone: Dear Blowing Off Steam, There is indeed more steam being released from Bay Sheets, located on Alexander Street. As a result, the noise associated with it increases as well. The steam, which comes from the pressure released from the machines that make the corrugated sheets, escapes through vents in the roof. During this time of year due to the cold weather and cooler atmosphere, there is more steam released because there is more heat dissipated, a company spokesman said.

Banners a good idea

“I am just calling to say you are doing a good job. It is a good service to the readers. The new color banners on the front page of the front page – the pumpkins and the Giants – are great. But let’s use them every other time so they stay fresh.”

Red Phone: Dear Banner Bonanza, Thanks for the comments. Flattery will get you everywhere. We try to include different banners on special occasions to make the newspaper more visually appealing.

The Oct. 26 banner photo was sent in by a reader, and we felt it was perfect to promote Halloween events. The Nov. 2 banner commemorated an event that hasn’t occurred in 52 years – the Giants winning the World Series.

We always appreciate hearing from our readers on what they like and even what they dislike about the paper. Let us know what you think by e-mailing ed****@****ic.com.
