with her family at her bedside. She was 91.
Ruby Mae Williams passed away at her beloved home on May 9, 2005 with her family at her bedside. She was 91.

Ruby was born on March 3, 1914, in Ardmore, Okla. to William and Rachel Collins. She moved with her family to Gilroy in 1946. Ruby enjoyed planting her vegetable garden and tending her flowers. Her family loved her homemade apricot jam and fried pies. She had many interests but dedicated her life to caring for her family. “We will miss her every day and will cherish her memory always,” her family said.

Ruby is preceded in death by husbands Jess Butler, Dean Boyer, Salomon Brewer and Willard Williams; siblings Donnie, Onnie, Lorene, Jack, Charlie, Leona and Naomie and grandson Steven Butler.

She leaves behind her loving siblings Ruth Gardner of Dover, Okla., Juanita Colbert of Hayward and Jim Collins of Houston, Mo.; children Geri Mathus, Charles Butler and Leo Butler all of Gilroy and Jessie Hawkins of Santa Clara; grandchildren Ron Powell, Mike Powell, David Rutjes, Natalie Baker, Paul Butler, Kevin Metz, Debbie Butler and Charles Butler, Jr.; great-grandchildren Anthony Rutjes, Sean Powell, Brooke Powell, Emily Powell, Brent Butler, Sherelle Butler, Amanda Baker, Justin Baker, Lindsay Baker, Chris Butler, Jacob Butler and Patrick Butler; and great-great grandchildren to Jessica Metz and Justice Rutjes.

A viewing will be held today from 5 to 8pm at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Friday at 2pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
