The varsity team fell in three games 25-18, 25-11, 25-13.

“They caught us on our heels a few times, but I think we could have played better,” coach Sue Grogan said. “But I don’t want to take anything away from the Salinas team … We just played really flat and Salinas has got an incredible team.”

Lindsey Foster and Caitlin Chisolm tied for the team lead in kills with four apiece while Loryn Ferreira had three slams and Shaunie Hewell had one.

Jasmine Perez led the Mustangs with 15 digs and Chisolm had six.

Lindsay Meazell had six assists, followed by Brittany Lewis with four and Ferreira with one. Lewis and Perez each had a service ace.

Sarah UnaDia had one down-block.

The junior varsity squad lost 25-10, 25-13 and the freshman team was defeated 25-17, 25-18.

The varsity team’s next matches begin Saturday at 8:30am when GHS hosts the 16-team Mustang Invitational. Matches will be played over the course of the day as teams advance from pool play.
