Gilroy – A San Jose man veered across two lanes of traffic and crashed into two trees Monday morning on U.S. 101, badly injuring himself.

Guillermo Garcia, 28, was driving a 1996 Honda southbound on U.S. 101 north of Sixth Street when he made an unsafe turn to the right, and careened from the leftmost lane across the highway, hitting two trees on its left.

Garcia was transported by AMR to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he was in critical condition Tuesday.

The accident is under investigation.
