were married at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe on

Emmia J. Rivera
Emmia J. Rivera was born on Nov. 7 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister to parents Stephanie and Miguel Rivera. She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
Angelina Marie Lopez
Angelina Marie Lopez was born on Nov. 5 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Bernadette Lucinda O’Donovan and Salvador Lorenzo Lopez Sr. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
Kira Luna Valles Knoll
Kira Luna Valles Knoll was born on Oct. 20 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to parents Colleen Valles, lifestyles editor for South Valley Newspapers, and Conan Knoll, editor of the Hollister Free Lance. She weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces.
ENGAGEMENTS
Podawiltz-Gillis
Matt Podawiltz, formerly of Morgan Hill, and Lee Gillis will marry in August of next year.
Podawiltz is a 1998 graduate of Live Oak High School and later went on to graduate from California State University, Chico. He is currently employed as an engineer with Northrop Grumman in Silverdale, Wash.
Gillis, moved to the United States from Australia 20 years ago.
She is a partner for a water sports and outdoor manufacturer, Blue Elephant, Inc.
Podawiltz proposed to Gillis on a private dinner cruise with family and close friends.
MARRIAGES
Andrade-Robinson
Allison Andrade, formerly of Morgan Hill, and Patrick Robinson were married at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe on Sept. 2.
Andrade graduated from Live Oak High School in 1997 and later went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in 2002.
Patrick is the son of Marilyn and Richard Robinson of Mesa, Ariz.
Andrade is employed as a special education teacher and Robinson is currently employed with American Family Insurance.
After the ceremony the couple and their guests enjoyed a reception at Tahoe’s Edgewood Country Club.
The couple resides in Queen Creek, Ariz.
HONORS
Mayra Cervantes
Mayra Cervantes was awarded the Standard Pacific Homes of Northern California “StanPac” Scholarship Program and will receive $1,000 for college.
A partnership with KNBR 680/1050 and broadcasts of San Francisco 49ers football and the weekly Steve Young Show, the “StanPac” Scholarship Program will award a total of 25 scholarships to Northern California graduating high school seniors who have shown exemplary dedication to academic responsibilities and community service.
Cervantes currently holds a 4.1 grade point average with a class schedule that includes courses in advanced placement calculus, environmental science and economics. A member of the National Honors Society since 2002, Cervantes has also completed AP courses in Spanish, English and American history. In addition, the senior has been a part of Gilroy High’s Latinas Program since 2002 and currently serves as the club’s president. In addition to her school work, Cervantes donates approximately 12 hours per week as a tutor/program manager at the Mexican American Community Services Agency. Cervantes is looking forward to attending Stanford, Santa Clara University or Cal Poly as an architecture major with a career goal of becoming an architect or engineer. Cervantes, along with her fellow StanPac Scholars, will be presented her scholarship prior to the 49ers final regular season game on Jan. 1, 2006, vs. Houston at Monster Park. In addition, StanPac Scholars will be honored on the air during KNBR’s game broadcasts throughout the season.
MILITARY
Bradley D. Yeazel
Marine Corps Pvt. Bradley D. Yeazel, son of Constance L. Reyes of Gilroy, Calif., and Gary L. Yeazel of Cincinnati, Ohio, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Yeazel and fellow recruits ended the training phase with The Crucible is a 54-hour team evolution culminating in an emotional ceremony in which recruits are presented the Marine Corps Emblem, and addressed as “Marines” for the first time in their careers.
Alex J. Leija
Air Force Airman Alex J. Leija has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Alexandro Leija of Powell Street, Hollister, Calif. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
Leija is a 2005 graduate of San Benito High School.
Michael D. Austin
Coast Guard Reserve Seaman Michael D. Austin, son of Kim M. Austin of Aromas, Calif., and Steve W. Austin of Aromas, Calif., recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J.
Austin and other recruits also received instruction on the Coast Guard”s core values – honor, respect and devotion to duty – and how to apply them in their military performance and personal conduct. Austin will join 36,000 other men and women who comprise Coast Guard’s force.
Austin graduated from Palma High School in 2002.
