HONORS
Jose Rodriguez Jr.
Jose Rodriguez Jr. graduated March 12 at Fort Knox, Ky., from the B Company, 2nd Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment. During his training, which started in January, Rodriguez learned how to operate the most advanced tank in the world, the M1A1 Abrams main battle tank. He completed basic training prior to entering the advanced tank training.
Rodriguez is a 2009 graduate of San Andreas High School. He is the son of Manuel and Teresa Levario, of Hollister, and grandson of Placiclo and Carlota Quintero, of Hollister. He has a son, Josiah M. Rodriguez.
Joseph Robert Best
Joe Best, son of Robert and Joan Best of Morgan Hill, is a 2001 graduate of Live Oak High and a 2005 graduate of San Jose State. He was commissioned as an officer into the United States Marine Corps in January 2006 with friends and family present. He is an infantry officer and has completed two deployments in Iraq, first to Hit and more recently to Fallujah.
On Feb. 25, 2010, he was promoted to Captain by Lt. Colonel Christopher Nash while attending a planning conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is currently stationed in Las Vegas, Nev., as the active duty Commander of the Inspector-Instructor staff for a reserve Marine infantry unit.
WEDDING
Matthews/Aragon
Brittney Nicole Matthews and Joseph Ellis Aragon got engaged in April 2009 and exchanged their wedding vows Dec. 30, 2009, at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
Brittney, daughter of Sabrina Provencio of Gilroy and Scott Matthews of Morgan Hill, and granddaughter of Jacqueline Matthews of Morgan Hill, is a student at Gavilan College working toward a degree in early childhood development. She is currently a day care provider.
Joseph, son of John and Lisa Aragon of Morgan Hill, is an aviation technician (ATAA) in the U.S. Navy, currently in C-School in Norfolk, Va.
In March, following graduation from C-School in Norfolk, Brittney and Joseph will move to San Diego, where Joey will be stationed at the naval base on the USS Peleliu (LHA-5).
The couple honeymooned in Monterey.
ENGAGEMENT
Miles/Carvalho
Kristine Michele Miles and Mario Jose Carvalho are engaged to be married.
Kristine, daughter of Karen and Jeff Miles, is a 2003 graduate of Live Oak High School. She is a graduate student at San Jose State University and will receive a master’s degree in recreation in May 2010. She is currently a youth sports coordinator at Mt. Madonna YMCA.
Mario, son of Marylou and Joe Carvalho, is a 2002 graduate of Santa Teresa High School and attended Mission College. He is currently a machinist at Expedite Precision.
The couple was engaged on March 15, 2010 and plan a wedding for May 2011 in Morgan Hill. They reside in Santa Clara.
